Tucked between two successful nightclubs, in a space that everyone else walked right past, RMD Group sees something more.
RMD Group never misses an opportunity to make good times better. One of the more unique examples of this is Pop’s Liquor Cabinet.
RMD Group owned and operated a luxurious basement nightclub called F6ix, located at the corner of F and 6th Streets. Guests entered the underground club via elevator, which necessitated a 400-square-foot “lobby” above to access the street.
“Pop’s is a gem. Few business people would see the opportunity that such a small space could afford. With RMD, we have grown a great little business. Creativity and vision matter!”
- Co-Founder and Partner, Pop’s Liquor Cabinet
Sales hidden in plain sight
Watching the stream of guests pass through nightly, the team began to wonder if there was a way this small, otherwise-empty space could be monetized. Turning its primary liability into a selling point, the “Smallest Bar In California” was born.
The concept was developed further to become Pop’s Liquor Cabinet, a nod to the makeshift hideaways Dads love to build in their basements. It was a premise just novel enough to catch fire.
Success comes in different sizes
Pop’s was never a swing to hit a grand slam. It was a clever way to monetize existing space that was already paid for. However, when measured from a per-seat standpoint, Pop’s may be RMD Group’s most successful venture to date.
A key driving force in its success: RMD Group elevated two employees to a partnership role. Such a small space would have been easy to overlook. But their attention and commitment drove the business and it took off.
